"Look, I'm not sending you to a people who speak a hard-to-learn language with words you can hardly pronounce."
Ezekiel 3:5
The Message
Words are how we humans form complex thoughts and give meaning to the events and images we encounter. The following words and terms are under consideration on this page because we see them as being used to manipulate any thinking in their popular use. We'll throw in other words because they are not popular, just for fun. And we will provide others we made up.
Our list will grow as the words occur to us. If you have a word or term that you think should be explored, don't hesitate to shoot us an email and we will consider it. As the list grows you can collapse the panels for easy navigation.
Ethics
The word ethics is a neologism (new expression) that has become a popular substitute for the word morality. Its wide-spread use derived in the nineteenth century by philosophers whose agenda was to parse morality into a dozen different perspectives. There is Applied Ethics, Descriptive Ethics, Meta Etics, Normative Ethics, etc. etc. All are forms of Snake Oil used to escape the common sense understanding of right and wrong. It is a word used to avoid using the better word, Morality.
Cultus Cheerleadicus
We coined this word in our book,
The Cosmic Fly Swatter. It refers to a specific category of venal marketing, where riches, happiness, and well being are sold by Snake Oil Salesmen for: a $375 course, a $49.95 CD, even a "Free" seminar on tiered marketing schemes, where most except the tonic salesman are ultimately made suckers. In the absolute, it is Spiritual Evil.
Corruption Certificate
A diploma-like testimonial issued to a patient by a psychologist. It lists all the applicable and fancy-termed disorders possessed by that patient. It is hung on his or her wall to be referenced anytime he or she has a relapse. The first occurrance of one being issued was from Dr. Fried Egg to Daniel Hightower in the book:The Cosmic Fly Swatter.
Vetting
This word is all the rage these days being overused in the recent political campaigns. Its source is from the horse racing world where it meant that a horse had been checked out by a veternarian pre-race. I don't like this word for some reason.
Emerging Markets
What in Sam Hell does this mean? Oh I know what those who use this term (the financial class) are describing. But it is a partially dishonest term. It is the useful application of snake oil by globalists. Think about it. An emerging market must be one that is sprouting up on its own. It is becoming without any help from anybody. Markets never "emerge," they are sought out and developed and exploited by the natural avarice of people who make their money by harvesting potential buyers with things made by others. Most of them are just paper and contract pushing suits, who have never worked an honest day in their lives. These are the people who use the term "Emerging Markets."
Spiritual Energy
For starters, the term is an oxymoron. It is a contradiction in terms since the word spiritual means literally non-physical, and energy is physical. We won't belabor this term since it is addressed in detail in Pinkerton's book.
Reproductive Rights
Now here is a beauty for you. The term could perhaps mean something in China where people are punished for having too many children. But this term used in America is subterfuge. A right is a moral or legal entitlement to have or obtain something. In America everybody has the right to have children. That's not what those who use this term are talking about. Since everyone already has reproductive rights they are really talking about the right to execute unwanted babies.
Tolerance
The word is fine, it it is how it is used today that bothers me. To tolerate is to endure subjection to something with which you are not in agreement. Today it is used by the political class to mean that a person must agree with something whether he or she likes it or not.
Political Correctness
This is a prime oxymoron. It is a contradiction in terms. The word political implies adversarial positions. Correct? Cui Bono, Amigos?
Marry-Go-Round
A friend of mine was commenting on the fact that a lot of people he knew had divorced and remarried again recreating the same situation they had in the previous marriage, only with different people. He reminded me that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. He said these friends of his were deluded and just riding a merry-go-round. I suggested we respell the word merry.
Production/Consumer Units
A Production Unit is a human that lives in the Far East, and has no real identity beyond their availability to be harvested for labor in the production of goods for 10 cents an hour.
A Consumer Unit is a Western human (chiefly in the United States) that also has no real identity beyond his or her capacity to be lured by subliminal seduction (chiefly sexual, vulgar, and violent). They are harvested as placement vehicles for the goods produced by the Production Units.
Investment Vehicles
Speaking of vehicles, a broke mortgage broker friend of mine used this term to describe derivatives, credit default swaps and the other schemes that were finally hit by the Cosmic Fly Swatter. Again the the simple use of such invented terms provides a layer of covering and therefore an obfuscation of things that are clearly Snake Oil.
