Day after day the markets retract. Business is bad. It’s getting worse. People are losing their jobs by the millions. What does it mean?
I think we are all past trying to lay the blame on anyone in particular, unless you are one of those Democrats who is still pushing pins into a George Bush doll. Maybe you have the complete set of dolls. I bought mine at WalMart in 2006 for $19.95. It had all three of the evildoers, Bush, Cheney and Rove, complete with 100 full-length pins and authentic Bahamian voodoo chants.
No, this is bigger than any of that. Or is it? In this Universe of Contrarieties the answer is as usual, yes and no. It is clear that we, meaning humans since the entire world is now affected, have taken a pretty big hit, a strike from the Cosmic Fly Swatter. You call it what you will.
On Fox News there is old Bill O’Reilly. He’s pretty harmless; he’s just another Elitist Harvard Educrat. It was comical watching him squirm last fall squeaking out his protestations that nobody saw it coming. “I didn’t see it coming,” he wailed. Meanwhile back in 2004 I was walking by the close-out table at Vroman’s Bookstore when a title caught my eye. It was “The Coming Crash in the Housing Market” by John R. Talbott. I read it and didn’t buy a house. This guy Talbott is a UCLA economics professor and as it turns out an Obama worshipper. At least he was right about the housing.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, or should I say church, Christians are scratching their heads and wondering why their voting for Obama hasn’t helped. Give it time, they shout. Why the poor man inherited this mess from eight years of the evildoers. What do you want? It takes time to put all the pieces back after murdering innocent Iraqis, trashing our human rights, torturing some poor victims in Guantanamo, and conspiring with the rich white male Republican Wall-Streeters to steal our money! Whew! And then there is the no small task of ignoring or trying to rewrite the Constitution so that we can get a little “Economic Justice” if you please, thank you very much! At least we have the NBA.
You’ll have to pardon me for my perspective, but it is the only one I’ve got. From where I sit like a blind fool on a hill, I look out and wonder what took it so long to finally happen. As I watched the great Cosmic Fly Swatter shake itself off throwing little pieces of human’s plans all around me, it occurred to me that maybe we are lucky. Maybe we are warned. It could have been a nuclear strike from a suitcase carried in by a turban.
For you people who call yourselves Christians, I write these words. You are to blame. You pledge allegiance to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Only you forgot the fullness of the “Life “part. If you believe in the Living God and that He is the Giver of All Life, what were you thinking? Do you think you can profess something with your tongue and then act in the opposite? I remind you that to whom much is given, much is required. You are at fault for this mess we are in since you know better and yet purposely blind yourselves to that truth. I’m not talking about the last eight years, or even the last twenty. It’s more like the last forty years. It seems God likes to give humans forty years to repent before he turns away and disaster is allowed. Forty years should be right around 2012; it might not be over yet. This is all a big joke and utter foolishness to the Harvard Elites, but we Believers know better, don’t we? And guess what, it will get a lot worse unless we put on the brakes. You can take that to a Bank if you can find one that isn’t going under.
Just how long do you Christians think you can play both sides of the fence before you are spit out? No man can judge another ultimately. The fool can only take people at their word. You say you are Christian and then hire a radical Obortionist as your leader. All so you can be feminist, snappy, modern, new age, tolerant, hip, reproductive-rights advocates, who claim Christ and give the Living God, the Giver of All Life, your middle finger while destroying 50 million of his gifts.
But this is all foolishness. There is the “real” world to think about. There is little Johnny’s dental bill, the car payments, Sarah’s desire to go to Harvard, the loss of our 401K. I can’t help it if people want to SCREW and FLUSH. What’s that got to do with me? At least Obama is going to redistribute the wealth to all those victims of white male hegemony! And besides I give money to my church.
Oh well, from up on the hill where my dark glasses are most welcome, at least I have a good view of the Cosmic Fly Swatter. I’ll likely watch it strike again, unless they throw dirt on my face first.
