THE LENS POLE

After I first heard Cy Pinkerton’s EAP Theory, I was signed up. It seemed like as good a recreation for me as anything else I was occupying myself with. But it wasn’t long before our discussions led us to think that we were approaching things upside down. The EAP Theory was supposed to model all human perception, but this was impossible unless we could use the axioms we were cooking to understand a single human first. There are six billion versions of perception at the moment and like fingerprints, no two are identical. So the Lens Pole was birthed.

The Lens Pole is a geometric model for understanding human consciousness. It is at this point “in the rough” and even C.H. agrees that men with greater gifts than his could improve its validity. And certain precepts must first be accepted as possible for it to have any validity at all, or even for it to be understood. It emanates as a logic that assumes a Platonistic reality. This frame of reference provides its rational basis apart from which it has no meaning. Yet we believe that within this paradigm there resides perhaps the only rational meaning for humans.
Why there seems to be such a divide between man’s consciousness and his observable physical reality is addressed in Pinkerton’s book The Cosmic Fly Swatter with the mystery of Thanoma Mabo. It is set aside for this discussion.
Imagine if you will that the psychologies of individual humans are simply unique “accidents” or incidentals to the human consciousness, and that above and beyond such fingerprints of mental individuality there resides an overall blueprint for awareness that is shared, even though it is apprehended in as many degrees as there are humans living at the moment. Today these fingerprints would be 6x10 to the 9th power. No two humans are identical in their consciousness since their ability to apprehend anything is filtered with their own unique experience. It is their frame of reference without which they have no consciousness at all. We dwell in time/space in a universe of contrarieties.
The concept of a collective consciousness has no real meaning except in what all humans agree upon. And this can be reduced to knowing we are existent and perishable. To add up all that everyone knows is futile since no act of science can be accomplished without a frame of reference, and that frame of reference is by its nature a slave of its position and momentum in time/space. And quantum physics does very little more philosophically than to prove the uncertainty of the one while looking at the other. Also, anything that exists is a frame of reference.
Pinkerton’s EAP Theory was a thought experiment on this and led us both to conclude that although there could be some things necessarily shared in consciousness such as the awareness of life and death, only the individual’s version can even approach validity. And this consciousness is not known perfectly even to one’s self. Therefore any model that attempts to understand human consciousness beyond psychology must assume a single source of observation that sees all things as they really are. If humans deny such a source or single observer they condemn themselves to no true observation at all. Each individual’s observation is equally valid and therefore equally invalid at the same time. This is paradox. It defies logic and even any evolutionary concepts of consciousness. But we are Knowers and we do know things, and we are always attempting to understand what we think we know.
As the character, Daniel Hightower points out; to understand is simply to stand under. No honest human will tell you that man is the apex of all consciousness. Not even an atheist can authoritatively make such a claim. And any higher observer’s perspective in time/space, perhaps a race of superior aliens, must also obey the laws of physics. They must also be slaves of the uncertainty that position and momentum demand. Therefore unless there is an observation that is reality itself, or the way things actually are, there can never be hope for the observation of true reality. Any such true observation must be outside of time/space and its limitations. We are left with arguing over the character of any such perfect observer. But the alternative is a world run by lawyers who would parse even the definition of two letter words.
Common sense informs the most uneducated among us that there is such a thing as common sense and this in itself is a philosophical gift given to all men to be discarded only in the obscurities of sophistication.
Note: The word, sophistication is derived from sophistry. Sophists were ancient Greek professional liars.
All the natural sciences have zero meaning by themselves since any discoveries always lead to higher philosophical questions that will never go away. I repeat, they can only be covered up against by sophistication and snake oil.
The Lens Pole proposes a geometric model for the pursuit of an understanding that relates human consciousness to the belief that there is an actuality that is the way things really are, and that any man has access, albeit imperfect, to Truth itself. Geometrics are the natural tool that seemed to be a good fit in imagining this theoretical model since it is how the rest of the universe is ordered. And it is our belief that there is a Unity of Truth. Precisely how knowledge is arrayed and ordered and the resulting geometry is each persons Lens through which he or she apprehends reality. The mathematics are beyond both of our abilities. Yet it seems worthwhile.
All psychologies and experiences and triumphs and defeats and rights and wrongs, and justices and injustices and even loves and hates, have zero meaning without an Absolute Reality observable only outside of time/space by a Single Perfect Observer who not only sees things as they actually are, but is in fact the Actuality Itself.
How man inclines himself towards this Power is his Lens Pole's attitude. Within the Lens Pole resides all an individuals knowledge, experiential and acquired. They are assigned positions and momentums in varying quadrants, in fleeting and adaptable hierarchies of his own design available for his proven lifetime. He has greater or lesser control of these particles in his make up depending on some things that modern psychology sheds light upon. But how a man structures these filters of his perception is in fact his life as a little knower. And overall there is the Truth, without which as his directed momentum, there can be no lasting happiness. For as a little knower, man’s happiness will always be dependant upon knowing truth. Find us a man or woman that does not want happiness.
We live in a universe of contrarieties so designed for man to yin and yang in his perception until his days are ended. The increase in his knowledge of the world about him may or may not improve his understanding, it may even confuse him, but if he imagines perfection, if he images such things within, he gains greater control of his Lens Pole. He uses something that is used by all science first and foremost, his imagination.
A natural scientist imagines a theory and then takes measurements. The higher science of philosophy, higher because of its subject matter, though far less practical or provable, imagines reality with no pretense of measuring the immeasurable.
