THE EAP THEORY

I have been asked by my friends at cosmicflyswatter.com to explain in better detail the EAP Theory (Earth Axis Perspective Theory). Perhaps a little background about what led me to explore this line of thinking would be helpful.
I am a social scientist, and though my colleagues in the physical sciences sometimes deride our area of science as being clearly inferior, for my part I am engaged in research, and I take a bit of comfort against such prejudices in knowing that we employ similar standards in our methods and practices not so very different than those of our superior natural scientific brethren.
I bring any of this up since the inaugural event that launched my career as an amateur philosopher was such that it jarred all the psychological paradigms that had before that event, controlled most of my perspective. It was nothing so spectacular that it would influence anyone else, but it did affect me greatly. I was in the Bay Area on a freeway when I was suddenly passed by a car traveling way above the speed limit. Seconds later several police and Highway Patrol units dashed by in hot pursuit. There were perhaps six cars following the runaway. One of the CHP units began to swerve back and forth in front of us forcing all the civilians behind him to slow down. I could see the pursuit disappearing ahead. Then I saw smoke coming from the runaway car’s rear wheels. It was clear that he had fried his tires. We were brought to a complete stop a hundred yards behind the activity up front. I could see the police units closing in around the perpetrator’s car as it came to a halt. The officers jumped out and drew their weapons on this hapless fellow who got out of the car and was dragged to the freeway retaining wall where he was slammed into it head first.
This was an unusual event, but not particularly astounding. Most of us have seen such things on television at the very least. What was astounding to me was that I felt empathy for the perpetrator. I had no good reason for this. He was surely breaking the law. Yet my heart was heavy and I experienced something transcendent that was not necessarily dependant upon the events in front of my eyes. I had somehow jumped dimension in my perception. This began many changes in me, and also the development of the theory I will now try to explain.
The EAP Theory is a paradigm that attempts to answer several questions at the same time. Is there a Unity of Truth? Is there an objective reality? What capacity does any human have in his or her perception to apprehend objective reality? Is it at all possible to model human perception beyond the particulate studies of modern psychology?
To answer any of these questions, I was faced with dealing with them all at once. And I could find no intellectual disciplines beyond the various religions, theologies and philosophies that would shed any light at all on such possibly foolish inclinations. Therefore I decided to stick with the first question: Is there a Unity of Truth? If there is such a thing it is only logical that structures and order in any dimension of reality should be reflected and apparent in another. That is to say that the increased understanding man has achieved in the physical dimension of reality must have corollaries in the mental or spiritual dimensions.
It may be easy enough to claim that there is nothing beyond the physical and to potentially mischaracterize anything that is only vaguely apprehended as a form of energy. But however tidy and convenient such tendencies are, they are truly disingenuous. They are an intellectual hygiene that attempts to truncate human possibility and worse, reality itself.
But back to the Theory… I began to wonder if the physics of bodies in the cosmos and also the attributes and activities of particles in the microcosm did not in fact present uncharted road maps to understanding human perception itself. Arguably the more the perception and the higher the quality of that perception in any life form, the more defined and higher its position in the hierarchy of all life. Therefore one can say, in a way, that perception is life.
Beyond the studies of psychology, it is my belief that there exists an elegantly simple model of human understanding that can be evidenced in the order of the physical universe. And I began to pursue such a model by simply overlaying what we know about our own solar system upon the psyche of human perception. There is a prime energy source known as the sun, about which the other physical bodies rotate. These bodies are dependant for their existence upon their position and attitude to that source. The Earth in particular, which sustains the only complex life that we can prove exists, is positioned with an attitude that provides it in its rotation the right amount of energy to sustain that life. And so too it is my theory that the human psyche will suffer or benefit dependant upon its position and attitude to the Single Light of Truth.
Such an opinion inevitably gives rise to philosophical and theological discussions and arguments and parsing, all of which are the province of agendas. For my part I desire to approach all reality from the idea that to see the all of anything is to see it as one. The Earth Axis Perspective Theory is a general model that gave rise to other more specific models such as The Lens Pole, which my colleague and I explored in our book, The Cosmic Fly Swatter. I believe he will address this in an article of his own. There are sample pages from the book on both these topics, here. And they are developed in deeper context in the book itself. The use of spheres was inevitable since even the interaction of subatomic particles use this shape to comprehend things we cannot actually see. For example: the modeling of an electron rotating about a nucleus.
All apprehension by humans exits within the limits of time/space where position and momentum limit any grand overview and in fact limit each other. The observable attributes and intercourse of particles in the microcosm must also find corollaries in human perception for the EAP Theory to be valid. And I am in my spare time attempting to catalogue any such observations.
The EAP Theory presumes that there is an Absolute reality which is simply the way things actually are and that any attempts by humans to apprehend objective reality are imaginings in time/space outside of which the Absolute simply is. But the Earth Axis Perspective assumes that the Oneness of all true reality has provided from the Single Observer of all things as they really are, to the little time/space observers, a physical model from which the understanding of all reality proceeds.
